Better Cricket Coaching

What is Better Cricket?

“Better Cricket” is an aspiration, a model, perhaps a vision.

“Better Cricket” is what I try to coach.

I have been coaching professionally since April 2014, and for five years before that as a once-a-week Club volunteer. Until the first COVID lockdowns intervened, I coached 4 or 5 days a week, at venues across London and Metropolitan Essex, and out to Chelmsford. I thought that I had retired in 2021…but I am back to one day a week, and might do more.

In 2019 I joined the ranks of the Coach Developers, completing the ECB Coach Developer programme to deliver coaching courses, and as a tutor for All Stars Activators.

Even though coaching is “work”, I still enjoy running every practice session, whether it is with a group of 4 year olds, a young player with aspirations to progress through the County age-group set-up, or an established club player — they all want to have fun, and to get better at playing the game.

But cricket, as a sport, offers unique opportunities for children and adults to engage in physical activity whilst developing cricket-specific and general movement skills, and cultivating team work and social skills.

Better Cricket is dedicated to promoting the benefits of the game of cricket, in Schools, in Clubs and in the wider community.

So much more than just a game!
