Batting sessions

A selection of practice sessions concentrating on batting basics and a range of strokes.

n.b. many of the batting sessions include a variation of the “Lord’s Game” – this will be familiar to anyone who completed an ECB CA/UKCC course before 2013, possibly less so today.

N.B. These session plans were written based on templates provided on the ECB Level 2 course, back in 2011.  I know that the course has been revised since then, with much greater emphasis on Players and Outcomes, and less on Practice session design.

My own coaching practice has evolved considerably over the years — what I do now probably would not have shown appropriate ‘competence’ under the old coaching qualifications…but I am convinced that I am a more effective, and more player-focused coach today than I ever was previously.

Personally, I have not run sessions like this for some time (although some of the coaching points still apply, and the individual activities might be re-used from time to time), but I’ll leave the plans here as an historical curiosity — the way we used to coach!
